New Month, New Resolve

Happy 4th of July everybody! I feel like the 4th really marks the beginning of summer and boy did it feel like it this past week! Kristen and I went for only one run this week, the heat really makes it hard to get motivated, doesn't it?

Tuesday I saw my trainer and got my ass kicked. He really is great. He is a no-nonsense kind of guy who will not let you slack off. He is very attentive and makes sure I have good form with every rep I do. Wednesday we went for a run of just under 2 miles. The pace our 5k app has us doing is slightly different from our regular pace, but I like it. Its nice to have a little virtual coach telling you when to run and when to walk.

This is me after seeing my trainer. I don't sweat pretty...

Thursday was the 4th of July of course! We had a great day tailgating with LARS and enjoying an actual Galaxy win. Sadly I had to work on Friday, but hey, I got paid to do nothing!
The pesto chicken skewers I made for the LARS potluck

Excited for the game! (mostly for the sangria we made)

Saturday we went for a hike in Peter's Canyon Regional Park. We did a 5.7 mile loop that was really fun. There is a big hill at the beginning that kind of sucks, but you can power up it.

This is the big sucky hill. Pretty steep

Me climbing said hill. Yes I paused to capture the moment.
Then there are alot of up and downs along the ridge before you get to a long flat portion that is kind of boring, but prepares you for those exposed flat areas we have to hike through every now and then.
At least there is a nice view!
You finish the loop off climbing a winding trail then going around a small lake. It took us 2 hours and we were soaked with sweat when we were done. Great time!

The lake, more like a pond

The hiking group!
This week I am really going to focus on controlling my cravings and making better food choices, I  really need to cut back on my carbs. This coming weekend we are going to Big Bear to visit Kristen's dad and to do a little hiking. I'm excited for the elevation!

As of today, only 43 days left until camping in Yosemite! Can't wait!
